A brightening & hydrating face mask made of raw sonoran honey + fresh water pearls
Honey and bee products as a whole have been used in beauty preparations for thousand of years, and we are humbled to keep this tradition alive and well
The Sonoran Desert is the most biodiverse desert in the world, it's literally a food rich desert drenched in sunshine almost everyday of the year. Naturally, this unique environment bears some of the most exquisite and nutritious honey on the planet, as bees get to roam these lands and feast on the wide variety of flora all year round. When paired with the highest quality pearl powder (real pearls nothing more), we have a highly nourishing mask thats safe enough to eat
Raw Sonoran Honey is a natural humectant (a substance that has the ability to attract and retain moisture) – it is full of beneficial proteins, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, and minerals that offer beneficial support to skin – raw honey helps address dullness, dryness, soften fine lines, brightens & evens complexion – while the enzymes act as a gentle exfoliant that slews of dead skin cells and leaves you with a beautiful natural glow and suppleness
- This local honey is particularly beneficial because the propolis is not separated out (propolis is a highly medicinal mixture of beeswax and other oils and resins collected by bees), and a superior beauty ingredient
- Every summer we source the best local honey from our favorite elder beekeeper who lives at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains – this honey is truly raw and absolutely exceptional (as most honey labeled 'raw' isn't actually raw and oftentimes is heated / adulterated to some extent which denatures and kills off the goodness)
Fresh water pearls are another earthy 'animal based' ingredient that has stood the test of time of ancient beauty – pearl powder offers an incredible source of minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, proteins, and polysaccharides all of which harmonize to create a regenerative effect, fight free radical damage, and minimize the signs of premature aging. Pearl helps address hyperpigmentation, helps even out the complexion, and brightens the look of skin
A little goes a long way if used correctly – this small half oz jar should make about 20 masks
Suggestions:
- take a pea sized amount of the honey pearl mask into your hand
- slightly wet the goop & your face with clean water (or real milk if you want the extra exfoliation from lactic acids)
- gently massage & spread onto damp skin
- let the thin layer sit on your skin for 5-10 minutes (or longer if your skin isn't as sensitive)
- wash it off
(also lovely to mix it with high quality plain (animal based) yogurt which honestly is the best cleanser around, the yogurt must have s. thermophilus in the ingredients list)
Most face masks on the market have some sort of clay in them, for a lot of people this is great, but for many others (such as myself) it's draws out too aggressively and takes more then it gives, leaving me red and dry more often then not – the honey pearl mask is an alternative to this approach and it's goal is to gently invite in more moisture and radiance
If you're allergic to bees or bee-products do not use this mask

A gentle exfoliant that simultaneously softens and hydrates. I love using this during my luteal phase to brighten and refresh my skin. Using this at night I will wake up looking like I’m wearing tinted moisturizer!
