Larrea Oil
Larrea Oil
Larrea is a double extracted herb infused oil made of locally forged chaparral (larrea tridentata) & organic sonoran jojoba oil
This is hands down one of the most effective no-fuss skincare solutions around
Chaparral (aka creosote) has extensive medicinal properties that make it appropriate in a variety of circumstances–which is why it's been utilized as a remedy for thousands of years
In skincare, it's widely recognized for it's abilities in restoring integrity of the skin barrier–helping issues like rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, acne, dermatitis, dandruff, sunburn, and other such inflammations
Chaparral is antinflammatory, antifungal, antitumor, antiviral, antibacterial, neuroprotective, insecticidal, antiprotozoal, and anthelmintic
From the moment you open the bottle you will be met with the aroma of rain in the low desert; an earthy, musky, resinous scent that's unforgettably one of it's kind
How to use larrea oil
- as a facial oil cleanser
- as a light moisturizer
- as a spot treatment
- as post sun care / sun burn care
- as a hair oil to moisturize & protect ends
- as a scalp oil to combat dandruff
- on itchy bug bites or other skin irritations
- to treat scars/burn wounds (apply on un-broken skin)
- as a therapeutic massage oil to ease points of tension & discomfort
- in a bath (a dropper full on your magnesium bath salts = next level)
- to address topical fungal infections
- to shift mood
To this day, many people of these borderlands and beyond refer to this prolific plant ally as La Gobernadora, or “the governess”, a respectful name that speaks to this plants wise discerning ways

This oil is no exception! I personally use it on my scalp, face and body, it has a unique smell that I can’t compare to anything, and it works well for me for keeping the skin healthy and bringing it some joy it definitely needs <3 highly recommend!! You won’t regret giving this oil a chance
I have incredibly sensitive skin; many face oils have caused eczema flare-ups for me over the years and for that reason, I am very particular about what I put on it. When I saw the carefully curated process of Desert People by using nourishing ingredients that are sourced locally, I knew I had to try it. The Larrea Oil has become a true gift to my skincare routine. This beautiful cocktail of ingredients not only carries a delightful scent, but it truly is a skin super quencher. So hydrating, with a smooth and supple application that doesn’t leave an oily residue on the skin. A little goes a long way! I primarily use it on my face, neck, and décolloté area, and sometimes I enjoy it on my hands, when I feel that they need that hydration boost. In the past month I have received a few compliments on my “glowing skin” and I credit Larrea Oil as it’s the only change I’ve added to my skincare routine. Thank you for creating such a dynamic and nourishing product! 🤎
The smell of creosote is home, the best weather, and dancing yellow flowers among white puffs. All that aside, this oil goes a long way! I have super sensitive skin so I am very carefull with what I put on it. I have used the larrea oil on my scalp, the ends of my hair, and dry spots on my face and have had no reaction. I cannot wait to get more!
